More talk not really the cure for area
OUR VIEW
What do politicians like to do? Talk. They love to discuss, debate, make pronouncements and promises. Politicians were doing more of that in Camden Tuesday with the unveiling of the Regional Action Commission for this area.

The goal, well it's the same as any organization or government plan, to make life better for folks, of course.

It's not that we don't appreciate the attention. And we're not going to dismiss this group before it get's a chance to work.

But then that's the key. Putting together press conferences, photo ops, buffets and the like is all nice and well, but what needs to happen is work.

Too many times well-meaning vote hungry politicos put together study groups, action groups, blue ribbon panels, you name it, to study, assess and dissect the plight of this or that group or region.

If anything beyond that happens, it's usually a report, that then gets filed away somewhere and that's about the end of it.

We don't need reports that are destined to become dust collectors. If people want to help this part of Alabama, it's going to take two things that are in terminally short supply - work and money.

Now, if we see some of that coming out of this latest effort, we'll thrilled to pieces.
