AREA CALENDAR The Clarke County Historical Society will meet at 2:30 p.m., Sunday, Nov. 25, at Grove Hill Town Hall. The program will be a "show and tell" format. Those attending are encouraged to bring an item of historical or local interest to display at the meeting. The public is invited. Sunny South Christmas Lights project The town of Sunny South is again sponsoring "Christmas Lights," a project to beautify the community at the holiday season. It will be a time to remember those who, in the past, did much for the area, and to recognize citizens still in our midst. A ceremony will be held. The name of the person being honored or memorialized will be printed on a program. The name of the person making the donation will also appear in the program. As many lights may be purchased as wanted at a cost of $7 donation for each light and will remain in place through the Christmas and New Year holidays. Anyone interested in participating contact Ethel B. Parham, Raymond Norwood or Mr. and Mrs. Alonzo H. Purser. Deadline to accept applications and donations is Nov. 25. Dedication of tree lights in Pine Hill The 16th Annual Dedication of the Tree of Lights will be held at 3 p.m., Thursday, Dec. 6, in the lobby of the Bank of Pine Hill. Individuals may place an ornament on the tree in honor or in memory of someone special for a $5 minimum donation to the American Cancer Society. The ornaments, containing the name of the honoree and those making the donation will be displayed on the tree in the bank lobby for the month of December. The ornaments will then be mailed, along with an acknowledgement card, to whomever the purchaser designates. All proceeds go to the American Cancer Society and are tax deductible. Alabama coolers available at Boys and Girls Club The Boys and Girls Club has Alabama insulated coolers, featuring Alabama's last national championship game along with Gene Stallings, available in time for Christmas for $5.
