TMS girls now at 5-0
Amber Coston led the TMS scoring attack in the win with 17 points followed by Shan Washington with seven. Others contributing to the point total were Shakira Holt and Psietta Rodgers with four points each while Mahalia Crawford had three points and Bria Robinson two. Prior to Thursday's game the TMS Girls began their run with a season opening win Thursday, November 1, on the road against the Jackson Middle School Girls. In that game, which was nip and tuck all the way through, the TMS Girls edged the JMS Girls 33 - 31. Mahalia Crawford had the hot hand for TMS in the game scoring 11 points followed by Shan Washington with six, Psietta Rodgers with four, and Shakira Holt with three. Others contributing to the point total were: Amber Coston, Shambria Hayes, Bria Robinson, and Alexis Watters with two points each and R'Alexis Pugh with one. Next up, the TMS Girls played host to the Wilson Hall Middle School Girls in the home opener for TMS on Tuesday, November 6. After getting off to a slow start that saw them fall behind 8 - 2 in the first quarter the TMS girls exploded outscoring their guests 28 - 15 over the balance of the game to post a 31 - 23 win. Amber Coston was the scoring leader in this one for TMS with 16 points followed by Mahalia Crawford with five points and Shakira Holt with four. Others contributing to the TMS point total were; Shambria Hayes, Bria Robinson, and Shan Washington with two points each. Sitting at 2 - 0 at the time the TMS Girls were back on the road on Thursday, November 8, when they made the trip across the Tombigbee River to play the Leroy Middle School Girls. In this one the TMS Girls, playing great defense and scoring with a purpose, jumped out to a 17 - 4 lead at halftime and never looked back on their way to a 40 - 20 win. Leading the charge for TMS was Amber Coston with 17 points followed by Alexis Watters with eight points and Bria Robinson with six. Others contributing to the TMS point total were: Shakira Holt with three points; Shambria Hayes, R'Alexis Pugh, and Shan Washington with two each. On a roll, the TMS Girls played host to the Sweet Water Middle School Girls next on Tuesday, November 13. In the game, the TMS girls got off to a fast start going up 18 - 0 in the first quarter on their way to a 50 - 11 win. Every girl on the squad scored in the game for TMS with Shakira Holt leading the way with 11 points followed closely by Amber Coston with 10. Mahalia Crawford and Bria Robinson were next with six points each while R'Alexis Pugh had five and Psietta Rodgers and Shan Washington had four points apiece. Shambria Hayes and Alexis Watters rounded out the scoring for TMS with two points each.
The TMS Girls were next scheduled to travel to Sweet Water on Monday, November 19, for their final game before the Thanksgiving break. The week following Thanksgiving they were slated to be back in action on Tuesday, November 27, against Wilson Hall Middle School in Grove Hill and then on Thursday, November 29, against Jackson Middle School in Thomasville.
