PTO meeting date change

The December Thomasville Elementary School PTO meeting has been changed to 6:30 p.m., Monday, Dec. 10. The third grade will present the program.

"Capote" Christmas

Come warm up by the fire and sing carols around the old piano as in Christmases past. Share food and drinks with friends as the community is invited to attend a Christmas party at the Hybart House in Monroeville beginning at 7 p.m., Dec. 8. Gather 'round the Christmas tree and enjoy Everett Price's reading of Truman Capote's semi-autobiographical story, "One Christmas," about Buddy who dreads leaving Alabama and his beloved Sook and dog Queenie, to visit his father for Christmas in New Orleans. Refreshments, including fruitcake and cider, will follow. Proceeds will benefit renovation of this historic Monroeville house. Admission is $25 per person. Shrimp boil

Coffeeville Masonic Lodge No. 122 will sponsor a shrimp boil during the Christmas parade activities on Dec. 8. Shrimp plates with all the trimmings will be $10. Raw shrimp will be available for $5 per pound and boiled shrimp will be $10 per pound.

NAACP banquet

The Clarke County Chapter of the National Association for the Advancement of Colored Peoples (NAACP) seventh annual banquet will be held at 7 p.m., Saturday, Dec. 15, at the Fulton Head Start Building. Guest speaker will be Elder Jimmy Allen, pastor of Church of God in Christ in Thomasville. Cost of the banquet is $25. For more information or to purchase a ticket contact Dr. O.L. Alabama coolers

The Boys and Girls Club has Alabama insulated coolers, featuring Alabama's last national championship game along with Gene Stallings, available in time for Christmas for $5. For more information call the Boys and Girls Club at 334-636-5402.

ANON Meets

AL-ANON meets every Thursday night at 6:30 at Pineview Baptist Church (enter door at Moore Street entrance behind church). For more information call 636-9985.
