Snow forecast for Stroll next week
By Arthur McLean Editor

The weatherman on TV may not say anything about it, but snow is in the forecast for downtown Thomasville on Dec. 13.

Two snow machines will be set up near Wilson Avenue that night for the Downtown Stroll, an annual Christmas community gathering.

"We got a great deal on them, so we're going to have snow this year!" said Mayor Sheldon Day. The snow will look and feel like real snow thanks to the use of special chemicals, but you can't eat the snow.

In addition to a rare winter wonderland created downtown, the stroll will also offer horse drawn carriage rides, music, pictures with Santa, food and arts and crafts.

"We're excited about the level of events and entertainment we'll be having this year," said Marlo Anderson, director of the Southwest Alabama Chamber of Commerce.

The chamber is assisting the Downtown Merchants Association and the City of Thomasville with event.

"We want this event to be something special for Thomasville that not only brings out our own citizens but also brings in those from around the area to our city," Day said.
