      Astate senator from Birmingham received about $150,000 over a twoand a-half year period from a non-profit program called Heritage for Hope that was funded from grants through the state's two-year college system and authorized by its former chancellor, Roy Johnson.

      Just when you think you've seen and heard it all, as the saying goes. This column was spurred by Pine Hill Mayor Harry Mason at the town's council meeting Monday night. Mason said he never thought he'd live to see great grandchildren born and the Alabama River run dry.
