No easy answers to shootings Innocent lives have now been extinguished and we may never truly know why or what drove these people to do what they did. There is no doubt there will be renewed calls for stricter gun controls in this nation. Some will surely say that banning them altogether is the answer. Of course, banning gun ownership is not the answer, and it will not prevent deadly shootings from happening. Just as banning other things rarely stops those intent on having them. Even if all guns were banned tomorrow, there's so many in this country, it would be all but impossible to dispose of them all, even if the populace were mostly willing. As long as we human beings are frail, imperfect, selfish and damaged, there will always be some who take it upon themselves to do dreadful things. There are no easy answers but we should look for them and take what steps we can to prevent more tragedies like these from happening.
