Sweet Water SGA fall festival ceremony held

A fall festival induction ceremony was held for the SWHS Junior and Senior Student Coun - cil at 7 p.m., Monday, Nov. 26, in the school cafeteria. The candidates for inductions opened the ceremony by walking in as soft instrumental mu sic was play ed. A welcome and occasion was extended by Bre anna Mc Millian. The audience participated in the Pledge of Alle giance, which was followed by the National Anthem played by Michella Lockett and David Morgan. Inspirational words were given by the principal, Stan Stokley.

Devin Wolf, a junior representative conducted the induction ceremony. Junior and senior officers were inducted by their elected positions. The senior officers described a character trait relevant to their elected position and the junior officers presented the word by placing it on the table. Each officer and member made a pledge to the organization and presented a colorful branch of leaves to make up the bouquet that was symbolic of the ceremony.

The president initiated the ceremony by stating that she would endeavor to hold high this position with humility, joy and pride as a task of accepting here responsibility. The vice president accepted his position by stating that this position was symbolized by bravery and wisdom. The sec retary accepted her position which is indicative of truth, constancy, fidelity and loyalty. The financial secretary accepted his position and stressed that dignity, restraint and seriousness as being important to the student council. The chaplain and parliamentarian accepted their positions which emphasized warmth, friendship and faithfulness. The message stressed the importance of everyone "working together" in the golden bond of friendship. The activity coordinator gave concluding remarks of all the character traits and Mark Davis presented the council with the SGA Pledge.

David Morgan shared his ex - perience that he received at the HOBY Conference at Troy Uni - versity and the Leadership Con - ference at Auburn Univer sity at Montgomery this past sum mer. He concluded in his remarks by saying that it provided him with a valuable lesson on leadership and how to become a good leader. The program concluded with remarks from Mr. Stokley and everyone enjoying the fall festival meal prepared by Essie Landrum, Barbara Pritchett and Gayle Miller.
