Tigers beat Panthers 71-45 in opener

The Thomasville High School Varsity boys' basketball team traveled to Dixons Mills this past Saturday, December 8, and defeated the Marengo High School Panthers 71 - 45 in their season opener. The Tigers took control of the game early and never relinquished it. "I am proud of the effort we put forth in our opening win," Tiger Coach Jazmin Mitchell said. "It was a great start to the season. If we get some commitment from our players on defense, we could have a special basketball season here in Thomasville in 2007 - 2008."

Scoring leaders in the victory for the Tigers were; Antron Holt with 11 points and Tysean Thompson and James White with 10 points apiece. Daril Jackson was next with eight points followed by Delvonte Harris and Kenny Sanders with six points each and Tacory Marshall with five points. Rounding out the scoring Shaq Jackson and Katrell Watters had four points each; Markell Watters had three while Alex Buford and Shed Simmons chipped in two apiece. On the boards Daril Jackson led the way with seven rebounds followed by Marshall with five and Jarrell Watters with four. On defense Daril Jackson and Thompson led the charge with three steals apiece.

On tap next for the Tigers was their home opener against the Choctaw County Tigers scheduled for Tuesday, December 11 followed by a visit from the McIntosh Demons on Saturday, December 15. The varsity games will be the final of three games played on each date with the BTeams from the two schools kicking things off at 5:00 p.m. followed immediately by the girls.
