OBITUARIES Ann Shirley West Davis Ann Shirley West David, 62, of Thomasville, died Monday, December 10, 2007, at Mobile Infirmary. Mrs. Davis was born Dec. 17, 1944, in Thomasville. She was an educator with Thomasville City Schools and was a member of Williams Temple C.M.E. in Thomasville. A memorial service will at held at 11 a.m., Saturday, Dec. 22, at New Hope No. 1 Baptist Church in Thomasville. Mrs. Davis is survived by her husband, Charles E. Davis of Thomasville; two sons, Earlando Courtney and Charleton (Nereida) Davis, all of Thomasville; one daughter, Jessica (James) West-Jackson of Montgomery; one sister, Gloria White of Thomasville; one sister in-law, Mattie West of Thomasville; three grandsons, Dylan Davis, Ahmad Courtney and Alexander Courtney; four nieces, Doris Lofton, Debra (Frank) Dennis, Ophelia Jones and Charlotte (Mike) Moore; two great-nieces, Marianalyn Dennis and Ashley Lofton; and one great-nephew, Jamel Dennis. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made for a piece of artwork commissioned to commemorate her memory by Charlie Lucas, to be placed at Thomasville High School or to the Ann West Davis PEGASUS Scholarship Fund, c/o Linda McGhee, Thomasville City Schools. O'Bryant Chapel Funeral Home in Thomasville is directing Infant Madilyn Lou Smith Infant Madilyn Lou Smith, 4- 1/2 months, of Gallion, died Friday, December 14, 2007, at UAB Hospital. She was born July 28, 2007 in Tuscaloosa. Graveside service was held at 2 p.m., Monday, Dec. 17. The baby is survived by her parents, Brandon L. Smith and Kate Langham Smith of Gallion; one brother, Jackson Lane Smith of Gallion; maternal grandparents, Ronny L. and Catherine P. Hughes of Eutaw and Charles Thomas and Wanda T. Langham Jr. of Faunsdale; paternal grandfather, Lynwood Smith of Linden; great-grandparents, Curtis C. and Joanne Porter of Eutaw, Charles Thomas Langham Sr. of Akron, Mary M. Smith of Linden and Millry M. Burkhalter of Linden. She was preceded in death by her grandmother, Wanda Smith; and great-grandparents, Jane Porter, Mary Frances Langham, Clyde Burkhalter and C.E. Smith. O'Bryant Chapel Funeral Home in Linden directed. John Amon Pugh John Amon Pugh, 85, of Thomasville, died Wednesday, December 12, 2007, at his home. Mr. Pugh was born Nov. 10, 1922, in Lasca. He was a farmer. The funeral was held at 1 p.m., Saturday, Dec. 15, 2007 at O'Bryant Chapel Funeral Home in Thomasville with the Rev. Warren Huggins officiating. Burial with military honors was in Elam Baptist Church Cemetery in Thomasville. Mr. Pugh is survived by his wife, Joyce Nell Pugh of Thomasville; three sons, Johnny A. Pugh of Grove Hill, Jeff A. Pugh of Thomasville and Steve Pugh of Thomasville; one brother, Curtis Pugh of Thomasville; one sister, Lorena Pugh Reid of Thomasville; and eight grandchildren. Pallbearers were Michael Boozer, Tony Williams, Kenneth Lynn, Jonathan Pugh, Jerrin Thompson and Joseph Pugh. Honorary pallbearers were Earl Handley, Woodie Newton and Jason Pugh. O'Bryant Chapel Funeral Home in Thomasville directed. Vera C. Woods Vera C. Woods, 88, of Chattanooga, Tenn., died December 13, 2007, Chattanooga. The funeral will be held at 1 p.m., Dec. 20, at New Greater First Baptist Church in Thomasville with the Rev. Carlton Hogue officiating. Burial will be in New Greater First Baptist Church Cemetery. Mrs. Woods is survived by one son, Terry R. Woods of Chattanooga; one daughter, Evelyn Hudson of Grove Hill; four grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren. Reese Funeral Home in Thomasville is directing.
