The Thomasville High School varsity basketball team added victories over Choctaw County High School and McIntosh High School this past week to push their early season record to 3 - 0. In both games which were played on the Tigers' home court the margin of victory was in double digits.

Thomasville started the week on Tuesday, December 11, with a 74 - 54 pounding of the Tigers from Choctaw County. In the win the homestanding Tigers controlled the tempo of the game with good effort on both sides of the ball. "I thought we had a great team effort on both sides of the ball against Choctaw County," Thomasville Coach Jazmin Mitchell said. "I was particularly proud of our effort on defense as we forced Choctaw County into 28 turnovers. It ultimately was the difference in the game."

Leading the charge on offense for Thomasville was Daril Jackson with his first double/double of the season, scoring 25 points and grabbing 11 rebounds. Tysean Thompson was next in the scoring category with 20 points followed by Antron Holt with 13. On the boards Holt followed Jackson with eight rebounds with Thompson pulling down five. Jackson was also the assist leader in the game with five with Thompson picking up three.

On defense both Jackson and Thompson picked up three steals to pace the Tigers. Jackson also had two blocked shots to his credit.

The Tigers followed up on their win over Choctaw County with an 81 - 51 drubbing of the McIntosh Demons on Saturday, December 15. Once again Coach Jazmin Mitchell had nothing but praise for his guys. "I am proud of the fact we are playing as a team and not just a bunch of individuals wearing the same color uniform," Coach Mitchell said. "We are taking one game at a time and not getting ahead of ourselves. You can accomplish great things when you handle things that way."

On offense Daril Jackson was scoring leader again pumping in 16 points against the Demons. Following him were: Antron Holt with 12 points, Tysean Thompson with 11 points and Shaq Jackson with eight. On the boards Daril Jackson and Thompson were the leaders pulling down eight each while Holt grabbed seven. In the assist category Daril Jackson led the team with six followed by Holt with five. On defense Holt and Daril Jackson both blocked two shots.

This week the Tigers were scheduled to get things started with trip over to Butler on Tuesday, December 18, for a rematch with the Choctaw County Tigers. Following that the Tigers were slated to take part in the Jackson High School Christmas Invitational Tournament set for Wednesday, December 19 through Friday, December 21.
