Former T'ville doctor dies after car accident

Dr. Muhammed Nayeem, a long-time physician in Thomasville, died Dec. 20 after a single car accident in Tennessee.

Nayeem was taken to a Chattanooga hospital where he succumbed to severe head injuries.

Nayeem served as a physician in Thomasville for more than 20 years. He was chief of staff at Thomasville Infirmary (now Southwest Alabama Medical Center) and also was head of the Emergency Room at one time.

He had recently left Thomasville so he and his wife Wanda could be near her elderly parents.

He was born Sept. 25, 1940 in Hyderabad, Andra Pradesh in India. He also served in the U.S. Air Force Reserves where he attained the rank of Lt. Colonel.

Funeral services were held Dec. 23, at Fyffe Church of God, with pastor Mike Cleckler officiating. His is survived by his wife Wanda, five daughters, one grandson, four sisters and one brother.
