Clarke County Sheriff's Office delivers Christmas The Clarke County Sheriff's Office delivered Christmas gifts to children who may not be as fortunate as others this Christmas. The deliveries were made possible by the donations of toys and gifts by citizens of Clarke County. "It's always nice to give back to the people of the community, especially during this time of the year when the spirit of Christmas is present," said Sheriff Bobby Moore. The department received information from citizens about specific needy families or families who have suffered a tragedy this year. There was one family whose home had recently been lost to a fire, and they are still in a hotel. "We then went to work sorting out the gifts and delivering them," said Chief Investigator Ron Baggette. "Several deputies worked to sort and deliver the gifts on Christmas Eve," Sheriff Moore said. "If we can make one child have a better Christmas this year, then it's worth every effort. I hope to start earlier next year, and I hope we will be able to provide more gifts to more children in the county." Department staff participating included Sheriff Moore, Chief Vergil Chapman, Lt. Larry Sheffield, Chief Investigator Ron Baggette, Deputy Joe Allen, Deputy Frankie Crawford, and Deputy Ronnie Randall.
"I would like to thank the people of the county who donated gifts this year,"
