Worthwhile Club meeting held
Hostesses for the Worthwhile Club meeting, pictured from left, are: Anne Hamilton, Vickie Weaver and Jen Bethea. On Sept. 10, the Worthwhile Club held its first meeting for the 2008-09 year. The meeting was held in the clubroom at 2 p.m. Hostesses were Jen Bethea, Anne Hamilton and Vickie Weaver. They served delicious refreshments of white frosted cake, congealed lime salad and Cheetos with water or punch.
Club president, Vickie Weaver, called the meeting to order. Helen Megginson said a prayer for the club for the 2008-09 year. Vickie stated we had a new member, Joyce Loftin. Anne Hamilton read the minutes of the last meeting and reported on the correspondence received. The treasurer's report was given by Levinna Brown.
The business meeting included a report that the club provided AseraCare with a number of flashlight batteries for their emergency kits for hurricanes. Levinna Brown reported on calendar sales and the profits. A memorial gift was given to the high school in memory of Ruth Hinson. Field trip suggestions were taken and requested members make suggestions. Jane Ereksen volunteered as hospitality chairman. Two people were voted on to become new members; reviewed yearbook. Ann Dozier led in the reading of the club collect followed by the adjournment of the meeting.
