VFW meeting

VFW Post 5106 and its ladies auxiliary will have their monthly meeting Monday night, Dec. 22 at The Garden in Thomasville. All members are urged to bring their spouse to this event, a Dutch-treat meal, at $11 per person.

Memorial lights

Sunny South United is offering for lease the memory/honor solar lights at Christmas and Easter. The lease fee pays for the light (or lights) to be placed in the village square on both occasions. The lights are being leased for $4 each or three lights for $10. The deadline for the lease fee is fast approaching. Include the name of the person donating along as the name (names) of the person or persons being memorialized or honored. Holiday cookbooks

The Alabama Cooperative Extension System has the free 2008 Holiday Cookbooks available and may be picked up at 120 Court Street in Grove Hill. For more information call Jennifer Johnson at 251-275- 3121.

Library story hour openings

The Thomasville Public Library has openings for story hour. Come by the library to register your child or call 334-636- 5343. Story hour for three-year olds (Reading Bees) is every Thursday from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m.; four-year olds (Froggy Fours) - Thursday, 2 p.m. to 3 p.m.; and k-fourth grade students (Dragonflies) meet from 2 p.m. to 3 p.m., Tuesdays.

Monthly homeownership training meeting
