OBITUARIES Mary Louise "Lil" Norris Fikes, 85, of Dixons Mills, died Monday, December 24, 2007. Mrs. Fikes was a native and lifelong resident of Dixons Mills. For many years she enjoyed her work at the Dixons Mills Post Office and she served for many years as the clerk of the Dixons Mills Baptist Church. The funeral was held at 11 a.m., Thursday, Dec. 27, at Dixons Mills Baptist Church. Burial was in Dunning Cemetery in Dixons Mills. Mrs. Fikes is survived by one brother, Thomas G. Norris Jr. Mrs. Fikes was preceded in death by her husband, Lonnie G. Fikes; her parents, Thomas G. Norris and Frances J. Norris; brothers, J.B. Norris, Franklin M. Norris and Billy B. Norris; and sisters, Alice N. Hutto, Virginia N. Hayes and Frances N. Combest. Pallbearers were Bill Bilbrey, Jimmie Dixon, Steve Glass, James Dixon, Bobby Norris and Tommy Combest. O'Bryant Chapel Funeral Home in Thomasville directed. Nellie Walker Galamb Nellie Walker Galamb, 97, of Thomasville, died Friday, December 28, 2007, at Thomasville Nursing Home. Ms. Galamb was born Nov. 3, 1910 in China Spring, Texas. She was a former waitress and was a member of Salem Baptist Church in Scyrene. The funeral was held at 2 p.m., Monday, Dec. 31, at O'Bryant Chapel Funeral Home in Thomasville with the Rev. Bealie Harrison officiating. Burial was in Kennedy Cemetery in Chance. Ms. Galamb is survived by one sister-in-law, Annie D. Sexton of Paducah, Ky.; and two nephews, Ralph Walker of McComb, Ill. and Robert Walker of Paducah, Ky. Pallbearers were Mike Rotch, Richard Williams, Bill Gibson, Edd Kennedy, Ralph Walker and Robert Walker. O'Bryant Chapel Funeral Home in Thomasville directed. Dr. M.A. Nayeem Dr. M.A. Nayeem, 67, of Fort Payne died Thursday, December 20, 2007, at Erlanger. The funeral was held at 2 p.m., Sunday, Dec. 23, at Fyffe Church of God with the Rev. Mike Cleckler officiating. Burial was in Miller's Chapel Cemetery. Dr. Nayeem is survived by his wife, Wanda Nayeem of Fort Payne; five daughters, Anisa (Rob Griswold 6th) Nayeem, M.D. of Auburn, Calif., Sara Nayeem, M.D. of New York, N.Y., Alia (George) Stowers of Springfield, Mo., Razia Nayeem of Orlando, Fla. and Leila (Eric) Ojala of Silverthorne, Colo.; one grandson, Wait Robins Griswold 7th of Auburn, Calif.; and four sisters and one brother, all of India. Dr. Nayeem was preceded in death by his parents, and one sister. Rainsville Funeral Home directed. Gloria North Pugh Perdue Gloria North Pugh Perdue, 83, died December 17, 2007, in American Fork, Utah due to complications from surgery. Mrs. Perdue was born June 15, 1924, to Mabon Elias Pugh and Thelma Tam Parkhill in Mobile. She graduated from Murphy High School where she was active in her high school sorority, Alpha Delta Kappa. Summer house parties in Fairhope and Gulf Shores were her favorites along with winter dances and serving as a hostess at the USO. She attended cadet nurse corps training in New Orleans at the Touro Infirmary and eventually returned to Mobile where she married an Army lieutenant. She was a librarian at the U.S. Naval Academy in Annapolis, Md., and retired in 1989. She also lived in Opine, Ala. and Pensacola, Fla. but eventually moved to Utah. Burial was held Dec. 27, at Bashan Cemetery in Thomasville. Mrs. Perdue is survived by three children, Bobby (Sheryl) Perdue of Falling Waters, W.Va., Sue (Lier) Sherwin of Alpine, Utah and Holly (Bob) Boyle of Church Hill, Md.; one brother, Dr. Mabon E. (Marne) Pugh Jr.; seven grandchildren, Kelly (Nate), Robby (Emily), Corey, Jeff (Franzil), Samantha (Blake), Andy and Ashley; and five great-grandchildren Brook - lyn, Aiden, Hunter, Kyree and Emma. O'Bryant Chapel Funeral Home of Thomasville directed. Frances M. Ware Frances M. Ware, 87, of Sweet Water, died Sunday, December 23, 2007, at Mobile Infirmary. Mrs. Ware was born Aug. 11, 1920, in Drewry. She was a former high school teacher and was a member of Sweet Water United Methodist Church. The funeral was held at 11 a.m., Wednesday, Dec. 26, at Sweet Water United Methodist Church with the Rev. Ed Rose officiating. Burial was in Paynes Chapel Cemetery in Dixons Mills. Mrs. Ware is survived by two daughters, Carolyn (James) Paravicini of Mobile and Beth (Mike) Juck of Mobile; one son, Tommy (June) Ware of Sweet Water; two sisters, Margaret Gorday of Pensacola, Fla. and Jean Cain of Arlington, Texas; nine grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren. Pallbearers were Ed Paravicini, Andrew Ware, Erik Kirby, Wyatt Autery, Ben Leger and Brandon Morris. Memorials may be made to the Sweet Water United Methodist Church or the United Methodist Children's Home.
