Smith story correction

Emily Smith was awarded the lifetime acheivement award at the Southwest Alabama Chamber of Commerce's Christmas parade awards banquet last week.

Smith was instrumental producing Jack and Jill Kindergarten's winning floats for the past several years.

Smith is credited with being one of the driving forces behind the steady improvement in float quality at the Thomasville parade.

"We will miss her dedication and eye for creativity and quality," said Edmon McKinley, the parade's organizer.

Smith retired from the kindergarten in 2007.

Last week's story listed her employment as a daycare in error.
