Spiritual Reflections
Will your seed
grow wheat or weeds?
Pat Ozment Jr. IMB Missionary to Ghana
Ezekiel 33 tells the watch - man to warn
those who are perishing.
If
he warns them and they listen, they are saved.
If he warns them, and they ignore him, they perish, and their blood is on
them.
If the watchman fails to warn them and they perish, they are lost because of
their sin, but their blood in on him.
God called me to preach His word, in season and out. I have done this
whenever I could, in city jails, on street corners, in nursing homes, in small
villages, and in large, beautiful, sanctuaries.
God specifically called me to go where most others would not. I have been
pastor of the small, the out of the way, and the seemingly insignificant
churches.
I said, "Here am I Lord send me," and He encouraged churches about to close,
planted a church where one was needed, and sent us to Africa to teach, where it
was thought no missionary would come.
God also specifically called me to be a watchman of the Weeds. In Matthew
13:24-30 and 36-43 Jesus taught, and explained the "Parable of the Weeds."
The Kingdom of Heaven is like a man who sowed good seed in his field. But
weeds came up with the wheat. The man is the Lord Jesus. The field is the world,
which today is mirrored by the church. The wheat are the children of God.
The weeds are the children of the evil one, sowed by Satan. He has a crop in
the church. Jesus said don't pull up the weeds, that will hurt the wheat.
When judgment comes angels will harvest the weeds to be burned, and the wheat
will be harvested to shine in God's kingdom forever.
God called me as watchman for the weeds, because I was once a weed myself.
Weeds think they are wheat, but their hearts are filled with pride, bitterness,
strife, anger, envy, and selfishness. Wheat is marked by love, peace, mercy,
humility, and kindness.
I was deceived by Satan and marked for the fire. Wheat is enlightened by
Jesus, and marked for paradise. God miraculously changed this weed into wheat.
If you are a weed, He wants to do the same for you. He that has ears, let him
hear. I'll see you in church.
