Auxiliary to honor O'Bryant

PHOTO SUBMITTED Auxiliary members voted to frame Jimmy O'Bryant's jacket and hang it in either the nursing home or hosptial.
The Southwest Alabama Medical Center Auxiliary voted Monday to frame Jimmy O'Bryant's auxiliary jacket for display in the hospital.

O'Bryant died November 18, 2007.

"It was an emotional meeting without Jimmy," said member Linda Privett. "Jimmy loved the auxiliary and was so proud to be a part of this group that serves. He was a Christian man who gave generously of his time, talents and gifts."

O'Bryant was a "Blue Boy" the name given to men serving with the auxiliary for their wearing of blue colored jackets while the women of the auxiliary wear pink colored jackets. O'Bryant served as devotional chairman and gave devotional prayers before and after each auxiliary meeting.

The jacket, with name tag and service pins will be framed and placed in the hospital or nursing home.

"The members agreed that even though he can't still walk the halls and serve, that his jacket will forever hang in the halls that he so often walked," Privett said. "Our prayers and love continue for his family."
