Applications for BWMH health career scholarships being accepted

For the fifth consecutive year, Bryan Whitfield Memorial Hospital is offering Health Careers Foundation scholarship applications to area students.

"Making Dreams Come True" is the focus of the Health Careers Foundation (HCF), which is an independent, notfor profit public foundation that provides scholarships to deserving individuals interested in pursuing careers in nursing, pharmacy and allied health professions.

Since 1990, HCF has awarded almost $10 million in scholarships, assisting approximately 5,000 students throughout the United States.

HCF awards scholarships / loans with a maximum of $4,000 per student per year for part-time or full-time study at an accredited institution.

Awards consist of one-half scholarship and one-half loan, and must be used for tuition, required fees and books. The loan portion of the award remains interest-free as long as the recipient remains a student and for a grace period of six months after leaving school. After the grace period, the loan will bear an interest rate of four percent. Payment will begin seven months after leaving school.

Scholarship applications are available in the human resources office at Bryan Whitfield Memorial Hospital. Based on HCF guidelines, completed applications must be counter-signed by BWWMH administrative personnel; however, award recipients are selected solely by HCF.

Applications to HCF must be postmarked by April 1. For more information, contact Dan - ny Smith at Bryan Whit field Memorial Hospital, 287-2635.
