Local players selected to all-star list
In the large school division which included all the 6A, 5A, and 4A schools in this region of the state, the Tigers had three of only four players from the 4A classification to be named to either the first team or second team selections and five others who received honorable mention recognition. Representing the Tigers on the second team offensive unit was senior wide receiver Tysean Thompson (5'10", 155) while over on defense senior twin brothers Jarrell Watters (6'0", 225) and Katrell Watters (6'0", 235) were both selected as linebackers on the second team. In the honorable mention category the Tigers were represented by junior defensive back Alex Buford, junior defensive back Courtney Campbell, senior fullback Roya Campbell, junior quarterback Daniel Rogers, and sophomore punter Jay Williams. In the small school division which is made up of the 3A, 2A, 1A, and AISA teams in the region, the Sweet Water Bulldogs had four players named to both the offensive and defensive All - Region team while the Marengo Panthers placed one player on the defensive unit. In addition the Bulldogs also had the distinction of being represented on the team by Coach Stacy Luker who shared coach of the year honors with Leroy's Danny Powell and having Anthony Landrum named as the player of the year in the small school division. In the honorable mention category the Bulldogs had four players who received recognition.
On the defensive unit the Bulldogs placed senior defensive lineman Nakia Dennis (6'2", 270); junior defensive lineman Tyrice Lockett (6'0", 195); sophomore linebacker Delano Brewer (5'9", 210); and junior defensive back Antonio Landrum (5'9",150). Joining them on the defensive unit and representing the Marengo Panthers was senior linebacker Kaylos Pritchett (6'1", 205).
