Make the best of semester

Thomasville High School students were welcomed back last Tuesday to some rather inspiring artwork. It seems as though THS has a resident artist who decided to spruce up life and inspire us to all do our best. Students were greeted with such quotes as "2008 is no time for sitting down" and "Let's make this a great semester." The favorite quote of all for the senior class was, of course, "1 LEFT" referring to the number of semesters until graduation.
Another inspirational happening lately was the program presented to both the high school and middle school called "Rachel's Challenge." Students and teachers learned the story of the first girl killed in the Columbine High School shootings and her theory that kindness can change the world. Rachel believed that if you did just one thing kind to one person that you could start a chain reaction and impact the world. Students were amazed at the courage this one girl put forth on that day and it was quite evident by the complete silence during the presentation that our students were attentive. Changes in behavior have already been seen throughout the school, and Mr. Ferguson is very excited that this will be a great transformation for our school.
Congratulations to the basketball teams! The Lady Tigers won Friday night against Jackson. The varsity boys came very close to another win, but could not pull it out in the end losing by only one point. Saturday, however, was a different story with both the varsity and B-team boys winning in McIntosh. The Tigers played McIntosh on Tuesday night, but the scores were not in by press time. Before Friday's game the varsity boys were ranked fifth in the state. Congratulations guys, that is the first time ever! Keep up all of your hard work!
Seniors please do not forget the last day to turn in information for your senior ad is Feb. 8. Also, as we begin 2008, do not forget to check with Mrs. Williams about scholarship, ACT and college information.
