Career techincal classes recognized for efforts
Many special activities are scheduled during CTE Week, February 11-15. Career Tech clubs have a week of activities planned. FCCLA will honor the teachers each day with a "mailbox surprise." Then on February 14th, FCCLA students will host a Valentine's party for residents of Country Oaks Assisted Living. On Monday FBLA will honor support personnel, and on Tuesday, students will sponsor a "Teacher Appreciation Day." All CT students will observe "Dress for Success" Day on Wednesday, February 15th. Thursday, FBLA will observe "blue and gold" day by wearing FBLA ribbons. Friday will be "Blue Jeans for Babies" day. Students may pay $1.00 to wear jeans and a spirit shirt. This money will be a fundraiser for March of Dimes. A new club will also be organized during this week. Mrs. Vicki Charleston, Health Science teacher, will sponsor the HOSA Club, Health Organizations Student Association. THS will also hold Career Awareness Week, February 11- 15. During this time, teachers have invited many professionals to speak on careers and achieving success in today's job market. "We hope the community will come out and support the special events we have planned," said Kyle Ferguson, principal of THS. "We would like the public to understand the variety of skills students are acquiring. By partnering with the business community, CTE will prepare students to become successful employees as well as future leaders."
