TMS Scholar's Bowl Team wins Baker meet

On Saturday, Jan. 26, six members of Thomasville Middle School's Scholars' Bowl team attended a Middle School Scholastic Challenge in Mobile. The meet was held at Baker High School and included teams from six other schools. Each team played six rounds and had one bye.

TMS eighth graders Marlee Moore, Sally White, Collin Clardy, Montana Prescott and Adam Sparks, along with sixth grader Malcolm Moore attended the meet at Baker.

In round one, TMS outscored St. Ignatius School, 210 to 170. In round two, TMS scored 210 points to Phillip's Preparatory School's 95 points. Thomasville had a bye for round three. In round four, TMS once again posted 210 points to Brewton Middle's 190. TMS's only loss came against Christ the King Middle School, 125 to 220, but they rebounded in round six with a 205-185 win over Fairhope. In the seventh and final round, TMS won a close one over Alba Middle, 165 to160.

Thomasville left Baker High with the first place trophy and a free pass to the state tournament in Hoover, on March 1. The second place team, Phillip's Prep, will also attend the state meet.

Thomasville had three players with over 100 individual points. Marlee Moore was the top scorer for TMS with 175 points, and was given the MVP award for her team. Adam Sparks had 170 points and Sally White scored 135 points. The team scored 1125 total points for the meet.
