The Thomasville High School Varsity basketball team wound up with a split in the Clarke County Tournament played at Clarke County High School in Grove Hill last week. With the split the Tigers finished second in the tournament.

The Tigers opened tournament play on Friday, January 25, with a 55 - 49 win over the Jackson Aggies to earn a spot in the tournament finals. In the win over the Aggies senior Tacory Marshall led the Thomasville attack with a double/ double that included scoring 18 points and pulling down 12 rebounds. Daril Jackson was next in the scoring category with 14 points while Alex Buford and Tysean Thompson tallied six points apiece. Thompson also had a good night on defense for the Tigers picking up five steals.

Things didn't go as well for the Tigers in the finals on Saturday night, January 26 as the Clarke County Bulldogs who had qualified for the finals by beating Coffeeville on Friday, broke open a close game to defeat Thomasville 70 - 53. Tacory Marshall was again the offensive leader for the Tigers scoring 12 points in the losing effort. Daril Jackson was next with 11 points followed by Tysean Thompson with seven points and Antron Holt with four.

The Tigers were scheduled to finish their regular season play this week with a flurry of four games that included a road trip to Grove Hill on Monday, January 28, to play Clarke County in a make up game and three home games against Marengo on Tuesday, January 29; Sweet Water on Thursday, January 31; and Clarke County on Friday, February 1.
