JV boys win county tourney The Thomasville High School Junior Varsity basketball team continued its undefeated streak this past week posting two victories in the Clarke County Tournament being held at Clarke County High School in Grove Hill. With the two wins they were able to claim the County Championship. They opened the tournament on Thursday, January 24 with a 44 - 41 win over the Jackson High School JV. Leading the scoring attack for the Tigers in the win were Justin Campbell and Mithchell Cowan with 10 points each. Tevin Pope was next with eight points followed by Jamaracus Blackmon with seven points and Tyler Hayes with four. The Tiger JV finished the job on Saturday, January 26 when they blasted the Clarke County Bulldog JV 63 - 41 to win the crown. Four Tigers scored in double figures to lead the Thomasville scoring attack. Mitchell Cowan, Tevin Pope and Demetric Watters set the pace with 12 points each followed by Jamaracus Blackmon with 11 points and Justin Campbell with nine.
The Thomasville Junior Varsity was set to continue their quest for an undefeated season this week as they were scheduled to travel to Grove Hill on Monday, January 28, for a make up game with the Clarke County JV before playing home games against the junior varsities from Marengo on Tuesday, January 29; Sweet Water on Thursday, January 31; and Clarke County on Friday February 1.
