Memory/honor lights winner recognized

Residents gather in Sunny South for presentation
Mrs. Deloris (Pat Stubbs) Maston was responsible for the lease of the greatest number (20) Memory/Honor Lights when Sunny South United Community lighted the village square for the holiday season. Mrs. Maston, a native of Sunny South, lives with her husband, Sonny Maston, in Pass Christian, Miss. She is the granddaughter of the late Deacon Dock and Mrs. Nettie Stubbs and is a daughter of the late Mrs. Gertrude Stubbs. She is a sister of the late Bernard (Buddy-Dock) Martin and the sister-in-law of Mrs. Izetta Martin, Sunny South.

Pat was honored (in absentia) at the Memory/Honor Lights Ceremony. The honoree received a gold solar light, a framed certificate of recognition, a ribbon and a framed picture of the April 1952 dedication of her home church, Cook Valley Baptist.

The presentations were made by Ethel Bettis Parham, president of Sunny South United Community and Vice- President/Lights Chairman Robbie Cook Purser.

Guest speaker for the ceremony was Wilcox County Sheriff Prince Arnold whose family roots are in Sunny South.
