The Thomasville High School Tigers had two more of their number to commit to take their skills on the football field and in the classroom to the next level this week when Jarrell and Katrell Watters signed a national letter of intent with the University of Alabama Birmingham. For the twin brothers it was a matter of making an earlier verbal commitment final when they signed their scholarships in a signing ceremony held at Thomasville High School on national signing day Wednesday, February 6.

The bookend twins who both stand 6' 0" tall and weigh in at around 225 - 235 lbs have been mainstays on the Thomasville Tiger defense for the past three seasons. In their four years in the Tiger football program they have been part of Tiger teams that have posted a cumulative 45 - 10 record and have participated in the AHSAA State Playoffs all four years with a trip to the finals in 2006 and trips to the semi-finals in 2005 and 2007. During that same span the defenses they were part of averaged allowing only 14.8 points per game and less than 200 yards of total offense per game.

This past season the two brothers led the Tiger defense from their middle linebacker positions placing first and second in total tackles with Jarrell recording 107 on the season and Katrell garnering 105. In addition to their tackles Katrell was credited with 2 1/2 sacks, three fumble recoveries, and an interception while Jarrell had a 1/2 sack, a caused fumble and two fumble recoveries.

With their signings they continue the long standing Thomasville Tiger tradition of sending football players on to the next level. On Wednesday they became the 94th and 95th player on record to reach such an accomplishment in the 91 year history of Thomasville High School Football dating back to its inception in 1916.
