Bryant is a contestant in Ms. Senior Alabama Pageant

Jimmie Rose Bryant wins local Ms. Senior Alabama contest
Beauty on the inside and out is what you will find in the Ms. Senior Alabama-Tombigbee Area Agency on Aging representative.

A local pageant was held on Jan. 30, at George P. Austin Jr. High School in Linden. This pageant was open to all senior ladies, age 60 and above in the Alabama-Tombigbee Regional Commission's 10-county area.

Jimmie Rose Bryant of Thomasville was crowned winner of the pageant, which judged contestants on appearance, talent, dress and philosophy of life. The first runner-up was Annye Braxton of Demopolis.

After receiving her crown and flowers, Mrs. Bryant expressed her appreciation for the opportunity to participate.

"I feel it is important for seniors to stay active after retirement" said Mrs. Bryant.

"We are absolutely thrilled that Jimmie Rose Bryant of Thomasville will represent the Alabama-Tombigbee Area Agency on Aging at the state Ms. Senior Alabama Pageant," Area Agency on Aging Director Merolyn Newsom said. "Mrs. Bryant truly exemplifies 'the age of elegance' and will represent our region beautifully."

Mrs. Bryant is a retired educator from the Thomasville city school system with more than 40 years of service as a teacher, and in later years was an assistant principal.

She is active in her church and community, and also hosts a Sunday evening radio program called "The Rose Garden Show" on WJDB.

She uses this program to reach out to others and inspire them to hold onto their dreams. Mrs. Bryant enjoys spending time with her family, a son and daughter-in-law, and five grandchildren. Her hobbies include reading, singing, traveling and meeting people.

Mrs. Bryant will compete in the Ms. Senior Alabama pageant on Saturday, March 29, at Wallace State Community College in Hanceville.

Supporters are encouraged to contact the Area Agency on Aging at 1-888-617-0500 for more information.
