Tigers win to host subregional tournament

The Thomasville High School Tigers traveled to the South end of the county and defeated the Jackson Aggies 69 - 65 on Monday, February 11, to win the 4A Area 1 Tournament Championship. With the win the Tigers won the right to host the South Sub- Regional round of the AHSAA State Playoff this Friday, February 15, when they will play the Andalusia Bulldogs who were the tournament runner ups in the 4A Area 2 Tournament.

In the match-up with the Aggies the Tigers were led in scoring by the duo of Daril Jackson and Tysean Thompson with 16 points each. Alex Buford was next with eight points while Tacory Marshall and Kenny Sanders added six points apiece.

The Tigers earned their way to the tournament finals with a 59 - 57 win over the Escambia County Blue Devils on Friday, February 8. Their win accompanied by the Aggies' win over the Monroe County Tigers set up the championship match-up of in-county rivals.

Leading the Tigers' scoring attack against the Blue Devils was Daril Jackson with 21 points. Tacory Marshall was next with 12 points followed by Tysean Thompson with seven.

With the Andalusia Bulldogs coming to town for a 7:00 PM tip off this Friday, Coach Mitchell and the Tigers are encouraging all Tiger fans to come out and support them as they play for a spot in the Regional Tournament in Troy.
