Sidewalks not meant to be Fido's bathroom
OUR VIEW
There are a lot of us animal lovers out in the world. And there's not much most of us wouldn't do for our pets.

So here's a suggestion. If you have your pet on a city sidewalk, try to walk it off somewhere to do its business. Failing that, please try to clean up after Fido.

We've heard numerous complaints from business owners and employees along Front street frustrated by the number of doggy droppings that are starting to line the sidewalks. It's unsightly, unsanitary and inconsiderate of those of us who live and work in these parts.

A lot of tax money went into revitalize downtown Thomasville. We're pretty sure none of the grant proposals seeking that money mentioned making our sidewalks a doggy bathroom.

A lot of people are also working hard to develop historical and cultural tourism in this area. Thomasville draws a number of visitors throughout the year to attend things like the Rural Supplier Conference, the Dixie Youth World Series games and Ghost Walk to name just a few. Surely we don't want our visitor's memories filled with visions of little dark piles along the sidewalks.

Downtown Thomasville is a great place to walk with or without a pet. And walking with your pet downtown can be a great stress reliever as well as some good exercise. So please, don't stop, just try to get Fido somewhere else to do his business.
