Spiritual Reflections
We assisted further, by holding her steady while he made a rather long incision using a scalpel, instead of the razorblade. We were instructed to "turn her a little" on her side so her internal stuff would spill out on the table, and he removed what is necessary to have puppies. This made a lasting impression on me, and it led to some confusion in Lansah. Several weeks later the confusion surfaced when Lansah was driving Peggy and me home from Accra. We were stopped for speeding. The police asked Lansah why he was in such a hurry, and he told them that he had to get these "doctors" to the Regional Hospital in Tamale. One of the officers smiled, and said how thankful he was that doctors would come to Ghana to help. Then he asked me, "What kind of doctor are you?" without thinking I said, "Theological." He said, "Wonderful we need theological doctors. Have a safe journey."
Anyone can get confused, but 1 Corinthians 14:33 says, "God is not the author of confusion, but of peace…" If you get confused, and you want peace, turn to God, and I'll see you in church.
