TMS' Scholar's Bowl team makes Super Tournament

PHOTO SUBMITTED The Thomasville Middle School Scholar's Bowl team goes up against the TMS fifth-grade teachers in a "for fun" matchup.
On Wednesday, February 13 the TMS Scholars' Bowl team- both "A" and "B" teams- went to Brewton, for the Alabama Scholastic Challenge. This was a continuation of a meet that started in November. There were 8 teams representing Leroy Middle, Jackson Middle, Escambia County, Escambia Academy, Greenville Middle, Brewton Middle, W. S. Neal Middle, and Thomasville Middle schools. Each team played a total of seven rounds and had five byes. Thomasville Middle's "A" team placed first, qualifying for the Super Tournament at the University of South Alabama in Mobile on the 14th of March.

Having played the first six rounds in November, this meet started with round seven. Thomasville outscored W. S. Neal 250-80 in round seven. The two teams then played two bye rounds which did not count in the overall scoring. Round ten consisted of Thomasville Middle and Escambia Academy with Thomasville outscoring Escambia A. 315-205. In the twelfth and final round of the meet, Thomasville topped Escambia County Middle School 265-20.

The individual scores for Thomasville Middle's "A" team in rounds 7, 10 and 12 were: Sally White -160 points, Adam Sparks -100 points, Marlee Moore- 85 points, Collin Clardy- 45 points, Montana Prescott -30 points, and Satyn Spears - 20 points. Thomasville Middle's "A" team total score for this meet was 830 points with their average points per round being 276.67.

TMS's "B" team also won two out of three rounds defeating Escambia County 150-85 and Escambia Academy 140- 55.
