The Thomasville High School Varsity basketball team, playing before a very vocal home crowd in their 4A South Sub-Regional match-up with the Andalusia Bulldogs on Friday, February 15, brought home the bacon with a 68 - 53 win. That victory earned them a birth in the South Regional Tournament to be played at Troy State University this week.

Getting off to a great start, the aggressive Tigers forced numerous Bulldog turnovers in the early going to take a 20 - 6 first quarter lead. Even though the Bulldogs fought their way back into the game in the second quarter the Tigers managed to take a 30 - 22 lead into intermission. The visitors from Covington County who were down but not out at that point closed the gap to within five points early in the fourth quarter only to see the Tigers turn it on again to post the fifteen point margin of victory.

Leading the way on offense for the Tigers was Tysean Thompson with 26 points. Daril Jackson was next with 15 points followed by Kenny Sanders with 13 points, Markell Watters with eight points, and Alex Buford with four points.

In the Regional Tournament the Tigers, who are now 16 - 7, find themselves matched against the Central Coosa High School Cougars who defeated Daleville 46 - 43 to advance to the Regional Tournament. Tip off for the game is set for 7:30 PM.
