From the Editor's Desk We hope you enjoy this year's progress edition. It was the result, as always of a lot of hard work by our staff here at The Thomasville Times.
Thank you to those who have agreed to give some of their time to us over the years as we ask for interviews, and agree to have your picture taken. We know it's not always easy. The author Tom Wolfe once wrote that part of journalism is asking strangers impolite questions. The good thing about this place is that there aren't too many strangers or too many impolite questions. But it's about you, this place, us, and we try to reflect that. So, enjoy this progress edition, and don't be afraid to tell us your story when we come calling. Buckley Passing Conservative columnist William F. Buckley died last week. I remember trying to read some of his columns when I was in high school and college. I say I remember trying to read them, because he had a vocabulary that was about five flights above my head. I liked the challenge, though. What I do remember from reading them, though, was that that man could get to his point quickly, stay on and flesh it out. Probably more than any other modern writer, he helped crystalize conservative political thinking in this country. Considering some of the national columnists we have today and the shoutfests that get aired nightly on the cable news networks, I think he will be sorely missed. Spring Despite the schizophrenic weather we've been having this winter, spring is just around the corner. Can you feel it? I'm more of a fall person myself, but I'm actually pretty excited about spring this year. Remember to set your clocks ahead one hour before heading to bed Saturday night.
