Relay captains' meeting

The Relay for Life team captains meeting scheduled for Thursday, March 6, has been rescheduled for 5:30 p.m., Thursday, March 13, in the front classroom of Alabama Southern's library building, on the Thomasville campus on Highway 43 South. At this meeting all team captains who haven't registered their team members online will get assistance to do so.

Shoe drive

The Thomasville High School National Honor Society is collecting "gently used" shoes. All styles and sizes are needed and will be sent around the world to those in need. Bring the shoes to Thomasville High School by March 14. The goal is 2,000 pair and the National Honor Society will not leave the school on the 14th until the goal is reached.

Relay for Life bake sale

The Pine Hill Baptist Church Relay for Life team will hold a bake sale beginning at 9 a.m., Friday, March 21, in front of the Bank of Pine Hill. For special orders call Patricia Martin at 334-385-2301.

SWAIA meeting

The Southwest Alabama Improvement Association (SWAIA) monthly meeting will be held at 7 p.m., Tuesday, March 18, at Jackson Steakhouse Restaurant in Jackson. Guest speaker Henry "Hank" Smiley, chairperson of the Southwest Alabama Community Coalition and President of the Clarke County Unit-new South Coalition, will speak on "A Celebrity Roast: Clarke County Mayors."

Q'back Club

The Thomasville Quarterback Club will have an organizational meeting at 7 p.m., March 18, at the THS library. All parents and supporters are encouraged to attend.

Retired educators meeting

The Clarke County Education Retirees Association will meet at 11:45 a.m., Thursday, March 20, at the Fish House in Jackson. The program will be on healthlegal education. Also, the nominating committee will present its slate of officers. All members and interested friends are urged to attend. The 2008 annual meeting will be held at the Cahaba Grand Conference Center on Tuesday, March 18.

Beautiful baby contest

A beautiful baby photo contest is being held to benefit the American Cancer Society Relay for Life. Photos can be submitted in two age groups: 6-24 months and 25-48 months. Send $10 along with each picture to: Beautiful Baby Contest 315 B Wilson Avenue, Thomasville, AL 36784. Entries must be postmarked by Thursday, March 20. Include: Your name, address, day and evening phone numbers along with the child's name, date of birth and date the picture was taken. Rules and regulations: child must be within age limits as of March 1. Do not include information directly on picture. All entries must be postmarked by March 20. Contest is not responsible for lost or damaged photos. Photos will not be returned unless a self-addressed stamped envelope is included. Finalists will be notified the week of March 24. Three finalists will be chosen from each category. Make checks payable to the American Cancer Society.

Dual enrollment scholarship apps due

Thomasville High School / Alabama Southern Community College dual enrollment scholarship kickoff meeting for 10th and 11th graders was held Tuesday, March 11. Applications are due on or before Friday, March 21. For more information call Thomasville High School Academic Counselor and Dual Enrollment Director Sandra Williams at 334-636-4451.

WCHS class of 96 to visit Atlanta

Wilcox Central High School's class of 1996 has planned a March Madness gathering in Atlanta March 28-30. The weekend will consists of a meet-andgreet on Friday night at the home of Kenneth Jackson. On Saturday, a host of activities have been planned including tours of various Atlanta sites. The gathering will conclude on Sunday with church services. During this time the class will begin making preparations for its 15th class reunion. T-shirts have been designed to commemorate this event and can be purchased for $16 from Class President Timothy T. Beasley by March 21. Clarke County mayors' roast

SWAIA, Clarke County ADC, Clarke County Voters League and Clarke County New South Coalition will host "A Celebrity Roast: Clarke County Mayors" at 6 p.m., Saturday, May 3, at the H.W. Pearce Jr. Memorial Park Assembly House, downtown Jackson. The Honorable U.S. Congressman Artur Davis will serve as the toastmaster. For more information contact Dr. O.L. PHVFD fund-raiser

Pine Hill Volunteer Fire Department is planning to give away a cypress wood nine-hole martin birdhouse handmade by Adam Hepstall and his dad on July 3. The birdhouse can be seen at area businesses throughout Pine Hill. For information on how to win the birdhouse, contact any Pine Hill Volunteer Fireman or go by the Pine Hill City Hall.

ANON Meets

AL-ANON meets every Thursday night at 6:30 at Pineview Baptist Church (enter door at Moore Street entrance behind church). For more information call 636-9985.

Homework assignments

Thomasville Middle School and Thomasville High School homework assignments are posted by all teachers each week. They are published by 4 p.m. every Monday for that week.
