Churches come together to put on Passion Play Four years ago, Rev. Phil Craddock began a Palm Sunday program that portrayed the Lord's Supper. It has been an annual event each year since. The vision behind the dramatic presentation of Jesus' last days, for Rev. Craddock's part, was to grow it into a community Passion Play that could give the churches in Thomasville a witness ministry of the death and resurrection of Jesus. This year, Thomasville Baptist Church is a full partner in the presentation. Some of their members are involved in the cast, and the choir as a well as soloists will perform jointly with the Thomasville United Methodist choir and soloist. The cooperative effort of fellowship and ministry between the two churches will hopefully lead to greater participation by other churches next year, Craddock said. "It seemed destined to work well this year because of the great spirit and personal friendship with Michael Scarborough (choir director at Thomasville Baptist)," Craddock said. "I've known Michael for about 15 years and we have an appreciation and respect for each other, not to mention our many friends at TBC. We just want to invite everyone to reserve a seat and receive a blessing by calling either church." Performances will be held Saturday and Sunday evening, March 15 and 16 at 6 p.m. at Thomasville United Methodist Church. There are 250 tickets for each performance. Craddock said the play has been expanded this year in dialog and music. It begins with Caiaphas' plot to kill Jesus and moves through the Lord's Supper and to Gethsemane. The story then leads the audience through Peter's denial and the storyline relating to Pilate, Herod and the crucifixion. "A moving portrayal of Jesus' death and the joy of the risen savior will bless all who attend," Craddock said.
Tickets are available by calling either church at 636- 4654 or 636-4409.
