Be ready when Jesus comes
Pat Ozment Jr. IMB Missionary to Ghana
Feb. 21, I flew to Accra with Jimmy Huey, and a volunteer mission team from Clarkesville, Tenn. We arrived at about 9 a.m. A remarkable thing took place as we taxied from the end of the runway to the terminal. We passed with-in 200 yards of the most recognizable airplane in the world - Air Force One.

President George W. Bush had been in Accra to visit the president of Ghana, and was preparing to leave as we arrived. I am not sure if the President was on board yet or not. We could see other members of his entourage boarding. I don't believe that this could have happened in any other airport. We would not have been allowed to land with "Air Force One" sitting there, in the process of preparing to take off with the President of the United States.

I am sorry to say I did not have a camera, others did, and they were using them. When we reached the terminal we could still see people boarding the airplane. It probably took us about 30 minutes to collect our luggage and load into the Baptist Mission vans and head for the guesthouse.

As we drove away from the airport I was thrilled by the sight of Air Force One again, as she took off, and appeared directly in front of us, then banked slightly and roared off in to the wild blue yonder.

I was not prepared for what I experienced that morning. Politics aside, my throat had a lump in it and there were tears in my eyes.

That won't compare to what it will feel like when suddenly, the Lord Himself will descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of an archangel, and with the trumpet of God. And the dead in Christ will rise first. Then we who are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds to meet the Lord in the air. And thus we shall always be with the Lord." 1 Thessalonians 4:16-17.

I was not ready for the appearing of the President but I sure want to be ready for the appearing of Jesus.

Be ready and I'll see you in church.
