Tiger JV team remains perfect with four wins

The Thomasville High School Junior Varsity baseball team remained undefeated this past week when they picked up wins over both the Clarke County High School JV and the Sweet Water High School JV. Playing at home on Tuesday, March 11, the Tigers defeated the Clarke County Bulldogs 5 - 3. Then on Thursday, March 13 they traveled to Sweet Water where the got the best of the Sweet Water Bulldogs 12 - 2.

In the game on Tuesday, the Tigers used four pitchers to subdue the Bulldogs with Darius Bowen who started the game picking up the win. Bowen who worked two innings allowed one run on one hit and one walk while striking out two. He was followed to the mound by Jake Dukes who in one inning gave up two walks. Zatrix Taylor was next on the hill, walking one and striking out one in one inning. Jay Williams the last pitcher for the Tigers gave up two runs on two hits and two walks while striking out three in the final inning of the game.

On offense the Tigers were led by Jarrett Taylor with two hits followed by Josh Jackson, Charles Taylor and Russ Wright with one hit each. In the extrabase hit category the Taylor brothers, Charles and Jarrett each had a triple. Jarrett Taylor was the RBI leader with three.

In Thursday's action the broke open a 4 - 2 game with the Bulldogs in the top of the fifth inning when they plated eight runs on their way to the final. Charles Taylor was the leader at the plate for the Tigers with three hits. He was followed closely by Brett Green and Russ Wright with two hits each while Darius Bowen, Sage Smoker, Jarrett Taylor and Sam Wise all had one hit apiece. Charles Taylor was also the RBI leader in the game with two. Others driving in one run each included; Green, Brett Skelton, Smoker, Jarrett Taylor and Wise.

On the mound Will Morgan who had a no-hit shutout through three innings was credited with the win. During his stint he walked one, hit one batter and struck out two. Jo Jo Holden followed Morgan for one inning in which he allowed two runs on two hits. Zatrix Taylor closed the game giving up two hits and striking out two in the final inning.

With their record now at 4 - 0 the Tiger JV was scheduled to play four games this week including a road match-up with the Leroy JV on Monday, March 17, followed by a double header with the Citronelle JV on Tuesday, March 18, and a single game with the Monroe County JV on Thursday, March 20. The start time for both Tuesday's double header and Thursday's game was set for 4:00 PM.
