Re-enactor's Association is subject of historical society meeting

The Clarke County Re-enactor's Association will be the featured speakers for the March meeting of the Clarke County Historical Society. Group leaders Brent Fuller and Steve Kennedy will give a history of re-enacting as well as model period clothing and attire. The meeting is scheduled for 2:30 p.m., Sunday, March 30 at Grove Hill Town Hall. The public is invited.

VFW meeting

VFW Post 5106 and its Ladies Auxiliary will hold their regular monthly meetings at 7 p.m., Monday March 31.

Q'back club meeting

The Thomasville Quarterback will have an organizational meeting at 7 p.m., April 1, at the Thomasville High School library. All parents and supporters are encouraged to attend.

THS basketball banquet

All Thomasville High School basketball players, cheerleaders and coaches are invited to a basketball banquet to be held at 6:30 p.m., Tuesday, April 2, at New Greater First Baptist Church fellowship hall. Parents of players and other guests are asked to pay $5. The event is sponsored by the THS Tip Off Club.

Art auction

Creativity for a Cure art auction will be held Saturday, April 5 at the THS gym. Sponsored by the Thomasville High School Relay for Life team, artwork up for bid will include student artists as well as other local artists. Preview will begin at 6 p.m. with the auction beginning at 7 p.m. All proceeds will be donated to the American Cancer Society.

Antique car, truck show

The Nuthin New Car Club will hold its 18th annual show on April 12, in the Thomasville Plaza parking lot on Highway 43 in Thomasville. It is an open show with first, second and third place plaques awarded on total points by the judges. Entry fee is $15 per vehicle. Lots of door prizes. General admission is free. Health Department moving

The Clarke County Health Department will be moving into the new building located at 22600 Highway 84 East in Grove Hill the week of April 14 - 18. The office schedule for that week is: Monday, April 14 - open to public but no scheduled clinic. Tuesday, April 15 - closed. Wednesday, April 16 - closed. Thursday, April 17 - closed. Friday, April 18 - open as usual.

Workshop on heir property

The Southwest Alabama Improvement Association (SWAIA) monthly meeting will be held Tuesday, April 15, from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at the Jackson Steakhouse in Jackson. Guest speaker Craig Baab, an attorney with the Alabama Appleseed Center for Law and Justice in Montgomery will present a workshop entitled, "Protect your rights: Legal issues related to heir property." The meeting will inform families how to protect their land and how to be aware of the risks involved in heir property. Participants will learn how to protect their rights as a landowner and learn the proper steps to protect their land and rights. For more information call Dr. O.L. Cemetery cleanup

The Aimwell Cemetery Association requests all containers and flowers be removed from the cemetery before April 7. This will allow clean up work to begin for the annual memorial service on April 26. Cooperation and understanding are appreciated.

Roast of Clarke County mayors

SWAIA, Clarke County ADC, Clarke County Voters League and Clarke County New South Coalition will host "A Roast of Clarke County Mayors" at 6 p.m., Saturday, May 3 at H.W. Pearce Jr. Memorial Park Assembly House in downtown Jackson. Rep. Artur Davis will serve as toastmaster and Mobile Mayor Sam Jones will be the special guest. For more information call Dr. O.L. PHVFD fund-raiser

Pine Hill Volunteer Fire Department is planning to give away a cypress wood nine-hole martin birdhouse handmade on July 3 by Adam Hepstall and his dad. The birdhouse can be seen at area businesses throughout Pine Hill. For information on how to win the birdhouse, contact any Pine Hill Volunteer Fireman or go by the Pine Hill City Hall.

ANON Meets

AL-ANON meets every Thursday night at 6:30 at Pineview Baptist Church (enter door at Moore Street entrance behind church). For more information call 636-9985.

Dog Wash

A dog wash benefiting Relay for Life will be held Saturday, March 29, in the parking lot of Family Security Credit Union on Highway 42 across from Family Pharmacy, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. The price is $10 for a wash and $15 for a wash and a photo. Dogs photographed will be entered in the Relay Dog 2008 Contest. Winners get a $50 gift card to Wal-Mart and his/her picture in the paper. Please make sure dogs are on a leash

Homework assignments

Thomasville Middle School and Thomasville High School homework assignments are posted by all teachers each week. They are published by 4 p.m. every Monday for that week.
