TMS Tigers wrap up season at 10-5 mark
In their victory over Leroy on Monday, Hunter Jackson was credited with the win on the mound working the final two innings of the game which went into extra-innings. Jackson who came into the game in the seventh with the Tigers ahead 7 - 3 was dangerously close to losing the game when the Bears had the winning run thrown out at the plate after having rallied to tie it at 7 - 7 in the bottom of the frame. But with his teammates scoring five in the top of the eighth he was able to retire the side in the bottom of the inning to pick up the win. In his two inning stint he allowed four runs on two hits, two walks, and two hit batsmen while striking out two. Before Jackson ever took the mound Tevin Watters, who started the game, had pitched a jewel giving up three runs on four hits while striking out six in six innings of work. At the plate the Tigers pounded out 12 hits with Cody Shoemaker leading the charge with three. Right behind him with two hits each was John Knight and Tevin Watters. Others contributing one hit apiece to the Tiger hit parade were; Drew Downey, Hunter Jackson, Corey Orr, Austin Parrish, and Justin Parten. In the extra-base hit category Knight had two doubles while Downey, Parten and Watters each had one two bagger. Knight was also the RBI leader with two followed by Logan Bishop, Orr, Parrish, and Watters with one. In a change drastic enough to be called Jeckel and Hyde like, the TMS bats that collected 12 hits against the Bears on Monday for some inexplicable reason seemed to go silent on Saturday. In both games, the win over Demopolis and the loss to Wilson Hall, the Tigers only garnered one hit per game. In the Demopolis game the Tigers took advantage of three walks and one hit batsman in addition to their one hit to manufacture the runs necessary to post the win. That accompanied by a well pitched game from Tevin Watters were the keys to victory. Watters allowed one run on three hits while striking out seven in five innings. Watters was also the leader on offense collecting the Tigers' only hit, a triple. In the RBI area Lamarr Charleston, Caleb DeRouen, and Watters all had one.
In the loss to Wilson Hall, it was Cody Shoemaker who had the Tigers' only hit. Hunter Jackson who went the distance for the Tigers on the mound, was charged with the loss allowing six runs on seven hits, one walk and one hit batsman while striking out one in five innings.
