Bradford running for County Commisison District 2

Karen Bradford
Karen Bradford is seeking the District 2 place on the Clarke County Commission.

Bradford, formerly Karen Dozier, is a lifelong resident of Thomasville. She and her husband Paul Bradford have four sons and three grandchildren.

Bradford is a sales agent with Pope's Real Estate in Thomasville. She attends Pineview Baptist Church where she has served as Children's Minister for 8 years. She has been involved with boy scouts as a leader for several years and currently serves as Charter Organizational Representative for Scout Troop 56.

Bradford is a member of the Southwest AL Medical Center Hospital Auxiliary. She is currently serving as Event Chairman for the Thomasville Relay for Life 2008. She serves on the Board of Directors for the Boys and Girls Club of Southwest AL where she holds the office of first vice-president. Bradford was recently awarded the C.A.R.E. Award (Children Are Reason for Excellence) presented to her by Congressman Artur Davis for her outstanding leadership and dedicated service.

Bradford is now serving her second term on the Thomasville City Board of Education and has held the office of president for three years. She is a member of the Alabama Association of School Boards and has recently completed the School Board Academy by receiving training and education totaling over 100 hours. Bradford will attain the distinction of Master School Board Member this summer. "The school's annual budget and the county's are both around $13 million a year," she said. "The school board and the commission basically function the same. It requires all members to work together to operate successfully."

If elected, Bradford says she looks forward to continuing the progressive track the county is on. She intends to see that Clarke County pursues all possible economic opportunities. "Leaders in education and industry must work together to see that our workforce is properly trained for these new jobs," she said.

"While the Boise tax issue is still unresolved, the budget will have to be closely monitored and other revenue sources should be sought. It is most important that we have a good relationship with our state and federal delegates to accomplish this. We must also be careful to see that we get maximum use of the resources we currently do have.

Bradford looks forward to meeting the voters of district 2 over the next few months."
