Chris Beverly running for revenue commissioner

Chris Beverly is seeking a full term as Clarke County Revenue Commissioner. He was appointed to the position by Gov. Riley to fill the unexpired term of Jay Duke, who was elected Circuit Clerk.

Prior to his appointment, Beverly had been employed as an appraiser in the Mapping and Appraisal Office of the Revenue Commissioner's Office since 1981. He holds the designation of Alabama Certified Appraiser from the Alabama Department of Revenue. He is a member of the International Association of Assessing Officers and the Alabama Association of Assessing Officers and served on its joint committee for education for two years.

Beverly is a member of the Thomasville United Methodist Church where he served as chairperson of the administrative board for four years. He is currently serving as chairperson of the staff/parish relations committee. He is an active member of the Clarke County Historical Society, serving as president since 1994. He is a life member of the Auburn Alumni Association and is a past president of the Clarke- Washington Counties Auburn Club.

Beverly received his Bachelor of Science degree in business administration from Auburn University in 1980. He is the son of Mary Dozier Beverly and the late Gilmer Beverly.

"I would like to thank everyone for their support since my appointment in January of last year. I pledge that if entrusted with their vote," he said. "I will continue to give the citizens of Clarke County the honesty and integrity they deserve."
