Gerald Stephens seeking a return to school superintendent's position

Gerald Stephens
Gerald H. Stephens, Superintendent of Education, has announced his intention to seek re-election as Superintendent of Education. Stephens, a native of Clarke County, is a graduate of Thomasville High School. He received his BS degree, Master's degree, and AA certification in Administration and Supervision from the University of Alabama. Prior to his election as superintendent in 1992, he was the head coach and Athletic Director at Clarke County High School, served as principal of Clarke County High for 14 years and as Adult Education Supervisor from 1989 to 1992. He has been employed by the Clarke County Board of Education since 1973.

Superintendent Stephens had the following comments to make upon announcing his bid for re-election: "I am again asking for your continued support in my bid for re-election. It is an honor to serve the people of Clarke County and I am so appreciative to all our employees who work so hard to provide an excellent educational program for our students. There is still work to be done in order to meet our goals and I remain committed to excellence in education."
