T'ville scores another politico
Say what you want about Mayor Sheldon Day, but the "Energizer Bunny" of small town mayors never stops trying to promote Thomasville.

After hauling Gov. Bob Riley to Thomasville a couple of times now for the rural supplier conference and nabbing visits from Sens. Richard Shelby and Jeff Sessions, Thomasville now will get a visit from Senator and eventual Republican presidential nominee, John McCain on April 21.

The Senator is expected to make two stops while he's in town and may speak to a group of students as well.

Will all the publicity pay off down the road? Who's to say, but this visit makes one more big time politician who will know where Thomasville is. And it makes for more newspaper articles mentioning our little town and likely doing it in a positive light. That can't be all bad for Thomasville.

Between Day and economic developer Debra Fox, a lot of ink has been put on the pages of some of the state's biggest newspapers and some of its more respected business publications regarding what's happening in Thomasville over the past couple of years.

There's a lot of small towns that would kill for that kind of coverage but never get it.
