Lady Tigers rout Aggies

The Thomasville High School Lady Tiger varsity and junior varsity softball teams traveled to Jackson on Thursday, April 3, and came home with victories under their belts.

In the junior varsity game the visiting Lady Tigers beat their hosts 9 - 3 while the Lady Tiger varsity came away with an 11 - 2 win. With the wins the Lady Tiger JV improved their season record to 7 - 6 - 1. The Varsity on the other hand improved their season mark to 12 - 4 and their area record to 3 - 0.

Kaley McManus picked up the win for the Lady Tigers in the JV game allowing three runs on three hits, two walks, and two hit batsmen while striking out six. With the win she evened her record at 1 - 1. On offense the Lady Tigers picked up five hits with Tiffany Drinkard, Brittany Huckabee, Christen Hyde, Amber Scott and Alexis Watters each getting one. Hyde was the RBI leader with two followed by Huckabee with one.

The Lady Tiger varsity pounded out 12 hits in their victory led by three hit performances from Ashley Crawford and Nicole Washington. Joining them with one hit each were Taylor Gilchrist, Shelby Myers, Rachel Norris, Andrianna Penn, Brianna Penn, and Savannah Smith. In the extra-base hit category Crawford had a pair of doubles to lead the way while Myers had a triple and both Andrianna Penn and Brianna Penn slugged a double. Brianna Penn was the RBI leader with three followed by Crawford, Myers, and Andrianna Penn with one each. Rachel Norris picked up the win on the mound for Thomasville allowing two runs on seven hits, one walk, and one hit batsman while striking out three. With the win she improved her record to 3 - 1.

On the agenda this week, the Lady Tiger varsity was scheduled to play Southern Choctaw on the road Monday, April 7, and Monroe County on the road Tuesday, April 8, before returning home on Thursday, April 10 to take on Sweet Water. Meanwhile the Lady Tiger JV was only scheduled for match-ups with Monroe County and Sweet Water.
