JV downs Demopolis

The Thomasville High School junior varsity baseball team continued their winning ways this past week when they defeated both the Demopolis High School junior varsity and the Jackson High School junior varsity. With the two wins they kept their season mark perfect at 8 - 0.

In their game with Demopolis, which was played in Thomasville on Monday, March 31, the home standing Tigers defeated their guest 5 - 3. Will Morgan went the distance on the mound for Thomasville to pick up the win. In five innings he allowed three runs on three hits and one walk while striking out one. At the plate Charles Taylor led the way with two hits followed by Brett Green, Jo Jo Holden, Brett Skelton, Sam Wise and Russ Wright with one hit each. In the extra-base hit category Taylor hit his second homerun of the season. Taylor was also the RBI leader with two followed by Sean Skelton with one.

Their second win of the week came on Thursday, April 3 when they ventured to Jackson to take on the Aggie JV. They took that one with a 7 - 3 margin. Jo Jo Holden, who started on the mound for the Tigers, was credited with the win allowing one run on four walks in 1 2/3 innings. Jay Williams relieved Holden and allowed two runs on one hit and one hit batsman in 1 1/3 innings. Zatrix Taylor closed the game out allowing one hit and striking out one in the final inning. On offense the Tigers were led by Sean Skelton and Charles Taylor with two hits each while Darius Bowen and Zack Day each had one hit. In the extrabase hit category both Skelton and Taylor blasted homeruns. The two of them were the RBI leaders as well with Taylor knocking in three and Skelton plating two.

The JV Tigers were next scheduled to play the Sweet Water Bulldog JV in a home doubleheader on Monday, April 7 and then close out their season on the road Thursday, April 10, in Atmore when they play the Blue Devil JV.
