Dorothy Jackson Abney

Dorothy Jackson Abney, 85, died March 21, 2008 in South Carolina.

Mrs. Abney was born Feb. 12, 1923 in Thomasville to Bernard Jackson and Sarah Harrison Jackson.

Graveside service was held in Thomasville at Midway Church.

Mrs. Abney is survived by three children, Linda (Ronald) Clark, James Wesley (Trish) Abney Jr. and Barbara Abney; one sister, Cecile J. (Leon) Runnels; one brother, James Jackson; and six grandchildren.

Mrs. Abney was preceded in death by her husband, James Wesley Abney.

Rebecca 'Becky' Sheffield Branton

Rebecca "Becky" Sheffield Branton, 78, died April 13, 2008 in Wichita Falls, Texas.

Mrs. Branton was born Sept. 5, 1929 in Thomaston to George and Evelyn Sheffield.

Visitation will be held at O'Bryant Chapel Funeral Home in Thomasville from 1 p.m. to 2 p.m., Thursday, April 17. Graveside service will immediately follow at Kelley Cemetery in Thomasville.

Mrs. Branton is survived by her husband, Bill Branton of Wichita Falls; two daughters, Donna Bloom of Rapid City, S.C. and Debbie Sutton of Wichita Falls; one son, Dennis Branton of Semmes; eight grandchildren, David Dubas of Nebraska, Don Dubas of Nebraska, Julie Mangnus of Nebraska, Barbara Van Leer of Wyoming, Matthew Hammond of Las Vegas, Nev., Ashley Hammond of Wichita Falls, Sam Sutton of Wichita Falls and Anthony Branton of Mobile; and 10 great-grandchildren, Cody Mangus, Colt Mangus, Cheyenne Mangus, Micah MacGilvery, Kali Dubas, Cole Dubas, Paige Van Leer, McKenzie Van Leer, Dominick Van Leer and Emma Davis.

Mrs. Branton was preceded in death by one son, Jerry Branton.

Memorials may be made to Abba Shriners Hospital Transportation Fund, 7700 Hitt Road, Mobile, AL 36695.

James 'Pete' Henry Flowers

James "Pete" Henry Flowers, 54, of Gilbertown, died Monday, April 7, 2008, at his home.

Mr. Flowers was born Nov. 3, 1953 in Butler. He was a carpenter.

Graveside service was held at 10 a.m., Wednesday, April 9, at Linden Memorial Park with the Rev. Ed Pickle officiating.

Mr. Flowers is survived by one son, Jimmy Flowers of Calera; one daughter, Kathy Flowers of Calera; his father, James C. Flowers of Forkland; two brothers, Rickey Flowers of Gilbertown and J.C. Flowers of Linden; one sister, Clara Edwards of Demopolis; and four grandchildren.

Pallbearers were Jerry Sikes, Wayne Flowers, George Flowers, Dylan Flowers, Chad Flowers and Harry Crosby.

Honorary pallbearers were Caring Angels Hospice nurses.

Infant Seth Dillon Glover

Infant Seth Dillon Glover died April 9, 2008 at Bryan W. Whitfield Memorial Hospital.

The baby was born April 9, 2008 in Demopolis.

Graveside service was held at Evergreen Memorial Gardens in Thomasville at 2 p.m., Saturday, April 12, with the Rev. Walter Smith officiating.

The baby is survived by his mother, Samantha Cardinal of Thomasville; his father, Dillon Glover of Sweet Water; and his grandparents, Jerry Cardinal of Thomasville, Sally Cardinal of Thomasville and David Glover of Sweet Water.

Lois Norris

Lois Norris, 84, of Grove Hill, died Monday, April 14, 2008, at Monroe County Hospital in Monroeville.

Mrs. Norris was born Dec. 30, 1923 in Higgins, Texas. She was a homemaker and was a member of Grove Hill United Methodist Church.

Graveside service was held at 2 p.m., Wednesday, April 16, at W.A. Smith Cemetery in Grove Hill with the Rev. Dave Rhodes officiating.

Mrs. Norris is survived by one son, Dan Walter Norris of Grove Hill; two daughters, Dianne Norris Welch of Monroeville and Carol Norris Keever of Auburn; seven grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.

Flowers will be accepted or memorials may be made to The Children's Advocacy Center in Grove Hill.

Grace Estelle Parker Whitley

Grace Estelle Parker Whitley, 99, died Monday, April 7, 2008.

Mrs. Whitley was born in 1909 in Thomaston where she lived most of her life with a short residence in Sweet Water. Mrs. Whitley taught in Marengo County over many decades. She was a member of Thomaston Baptist Church and attended the Methodist Church with her late husband.

The funeral was held at 1 p.m., Thursday, April 10, at the Thomaston Baptist Church. Burial was in the Thomaston Cemetery.

Mrs. Whitley is survived by a sister-in-law, Hollie Parker of Birmingham; one brother-inlaw, Lorenzo Whitley of Thomasville; nieces and nephews, Eddie Parker of Dallas, Texas, Mary Jo Jones (Bobby) of Pass Christian, Miss., Jim Parker (Nancy) of Wetumpka, Parker Sykes (Pat) of Carmel, Ind., James Whitley of Meridian, Miss., Judy Milvaney of Birmingham and Jerry Tibbett (Martha) of Pelham; 17 great-nieces and nephews; and many great-greatnieces and nephews.

Mrs. Whitley was preceded in death by her husband, Sidney Gerald Whitley; brothers and sisters, Myrtis Annie Handley, Floyd Eugene Parker, Houston Parker, James Alton Parker, Juliette Sykes and Roy Edward Parker; and one niece, Jane Winn.

Pallbearers were Wade Sheffield, Frank Jordan, Lex Parker, Billy Stokes, James Crocker Etheridge and Ty Parker.

In lieu of flowers gifts to the Thomaston Baptist and Methodist churches are requested.
