Hammond, Dickerson wed
The bride is the daughter of Artheris Hammond and the late Charlie Hammond Sr. of Lower Peach Tree. The groom is the son Ethel Smitherson of Clanton and the late Mr. and Mrs. Tom Dickerson. Given in marriage by her nephew, George Hammond, the bride was attired in a gown fashioned of champagne and ivory satin with an oval opening into a magnificent butterfly train. She carried a bouquet of seasonal poinsettias. Serving the bride as matron of honor was Naomi Knight. Maid of honor was Rovenia Humphries. Bridesmaids included Anthens Deria, Jenneka Hammond and Makeitha Shamburger. Junior bridesmaids were Carol Love, Rachel Deria, Rena Carstarphen. The bridesmaids' bouquets, hairpieces and accessories all intertwined into seasonal settings of clover green, apple red and champagne. Frank Hammond and Joe Hammond each served the groom as best man. Groomsmen included Carl Hammond, Donald Hammond and Irish Clayton. The groom and groomsmen each carried canes with polished brass handles and tips. Following the wedding the couple dined with family and friends at the church reception hall over a gourmet meal prepared by the bride. The reception was followed by a New Year's Eve celebration at the couple's home with holiday lighting, games, karaoke and a New Year visual of resolutions from all. Following a honeymoon in Tennessee the couple now resides in the Grove Hill / Thomasville area.
