Worthwhile Club holds April meeting
The meeting was called to order by the president, Jane Eriksen. She welcomed Emily Smith as a new member. Ann Hamilton led in the Pledge of Allegiance to the American Flag. An interesting devotion on love was given by Marilyn Morgan. In the devotion, she stated wherever there is love there is wealth and success. The program chairman, Louise McAlpine, presented a program on poetry. "Poetry expresses love, tragedy, kindness, nature, etc.," she said. She read a poem written by her son entitled "Through a Secret Vein." Others participating in reading poetry were Helen Megginson, Jane Loper, Levinna Brown and Judy Lewis. The minutes and treasurer's report were approved as read.
Business followed concerning the sale of calendars, lap robes for the nursing home, DYS report on birthday party, donations by club to several organizations, scholarship to graduating student to Alabama Southern and recommendation of new prospective members. The club adjourned with the reading of the club collect led by Dorine Hawk.
